Ashwaq’s Courage – Part 2
The countdown to Christmas is on! In just four days, the world will celebrate the birth of our Savior. To commemorate the season, The Nazarene Fund is highlighting the TNF 10 – A Countdown to Christmas. Each day, we share compelling stories of rescuing, rebuilding, and restoring the lives of persecuted people – each one made possible because of your generous prayers and financial support. Yesterday we introduced you to Ashwaq. Today we bring you part two of her courageous story.
“Escape to Safety”
Ashwaq’s incredible courage, even at age 14, helped her overcome her fear of the ISIS terrorist gang that captured and abused her. One night, she managed to incapacitate her captors with sleeping pills that she managed to mix into their food. Not only was she able to escape, she bravely took five fellow captives with her to freedom. The Nazarene Fund found Ashwaq shortly after her escape and safely transported her back to her family in Iraq.
Just a few weeks ago, Ashwaq had the opportunity to face one of the men who enslaved her. Watch part two of this video to see Ashwaq confront him, and to learn more about how The Nazarene Fund and Ashwaq partnered to help others following her harrowing experience.
Thank you for being part of The Nazarene Fund’s life-saving work.
