Turkey Invades Northeastern Syria
The Nazarene Fund prepares to assist Christians and Yazidis displaced by the Turkish Attack in Syria. Here are the updates so far…

24-hours after the United States withdrew U.S. forces from Northeast Syria, Turkey begins assault on the Kurdish controlled region of Syria including the towns of Ras al-Ain and Tell Abyad, according to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and its political arm, the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC). Turkey also began bombing the town of Ain Issa further inside northeast Syria, where the SDF and SDC headquarters are located.

The Nazarene Fund has begun setting up operations to assist Christian and Yazidi refugees if attacks continue.

The Nazarene Fund partner Preemptive Love Coalition, operating near the al-Hol camp, in northeast Syria, is preparing for food and medical relief says al-Hol “is an extremely tinderbox/vulnerable situation.” Al-Hol is the current home to 70,000 ISIS fighters, their wives, children and possibly captives who have not been identified.

A Christian family of three was wounded during a Turkish airstrike on the town of Qameshil in northeastern Syria (photos below). This is the first report of Christian casualties in an attack that began earlier in the day.
The airstrike is the initial phase of an invasion planned by Turkey to occupy the Kurdish controlled region of Syria.

A second day of shelling reported in several towns on Iraqi-Turkish border.

Turkey confirms its military has struck over 180 targets in Syria.
October 10, 2019 – 7:15 AM US CST
A Nazarene Fund volunteer films Turkish artillery strike fromher balcony in Qamishli. Reports high civilian casualties.

News reports that the Turkish Army had begun its ground campaign.

A Nazarene Fund parter reports thousands of refugees on the road. (Reports have not been confirmed.)

Photos begin to come in from Qamishli showing refugees fleeing.

A young Kurdish girl, Sarah, whose leg has been blown off arrives at Qamishli hospital with her brother Muhammad. Muhammad dies as Sarah screams. “…Erdogan, you killed my brother! Muhammad wake up, don’t die. I wish it was me not you… Sir, it is OK if my leg is hurting me but do not let my brother die!”
