Nightmare Ends for Yazidi Teenage Girl held By ISIS

A rescue operation freed a 15-year old Yazidi girl after she was held hostage by ISIS for two years. The young girl was sold eight different times and had sustained numerous injuries including multiple broken ribs. On Monday she was reunited with her parents in Iraq.

The mission took 20 days to complete and stretched deep into ISIS territory across both Syria and Iraq. The girl was kidnapped in 2015 and sold into slavery. ISIS had specifically targeted Yazidi girls and women for persecution and enslavement within the territory it held.

The Nazarene Fund’s mandate to “rescue, restore and rebuild the lives of Christians and other religious minorities persecuted and displaced by ISIS” has assisted over 25,000 people since its inception in 2015.
